Yamashou Suruga

Born in April of Taishō 14 (1925) in Shizuoka Prefecture. He began making bonsai pots in earnest around Shōwa 50 (1975), incorporating his experience as a bonsai enthusiast and his artistic sensibility as a maki-e (lacquer painting) artist into his pottery.

His works feature a rich variety of shapes, often adorned with intricate relief carvings of dragons, crabs, and frogs. His ceramic *shoku* (stands) are exceptionally rare.

In addition to bonsai pots, his other creations, such as Buddhist statues and incense burners, are also worth seeing.
